Personally speaking:
I’m a husband to Christa and a father to Zeke, Beck, and Ivy. I’m a graduate of Mississippi State with an undergrad in education and a master’s in sport administration. Professionally, I’ve worked in full time ministry, para-church ministry, for profit and non-profit so I’ve had a lot of opportunities over the last few years.

Getting to Know Tyson
Q: When/how did you become involved with Lightbearers?

A: I found out about Lightbearers a few years ago (2015-ish) when they were looking at coming to Mississippi State. A former teammate of mine and a great friend lives in Fayetteville and knows about Lightbearers and got them connected with me in Starkville. I met with Andrew and Kevin for lunch one day to hear the vision of Lightbearers and needs they had in the coming months. At the time, they were looking for someone to lead the ministry and we’ve stayed in touch since then.

Q: What is your favorite book and/or quote?

A: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. Q: What excites you about the Lightbearers vision?

A: I’m excited that Lightbearers is committed to discipling students. In a world that’s becoming increasingly anti-gospel, making it a priority to teach college students the Scriptures and help them live out the Gospel in community is exciting for me to think about.I love that Lightbearers encourages personal growth through discipleship and also practical out working of faith by encouraging attendance at a local church and also becoming part of the body by serving that church. Also, what a privilege to know that a portion of your rent goes to funding overseas mission projects.

Q: Other than Jesus, what Bible character would you want to have lunch with?

A: Timothy. It seems like he and I have similar backgrounds and I’d love to hear more about his mother and grandmother’s influence in his life.

Q: Other than Bible characters, what three people, living or dead, would you want to have lunch with?

A: Dr. Martin Luther King, CS Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Q: What does a fun, relaxing day look like for you?

A: Coffee, a book, and a lot of time with no distractions.
