Getting to Know Luke

Q: When/how did you become involved with Lightbearers?
A: I first heard of Lightbearers when Andrew and Ginny came to the Institute and told our class what it was. I thought it was a cool concept, but knew that it was not for me. Somehow I wandered into the room where they were talking to people and I ended up sending them my resume even though they were not hiring. I went down for an interview having a very small idea what Lightbearers was and then a few months later I was hired!

Q: What is your favorite book and/or quote?
A: My favorite book of time is “Through Gates of Splendor” by Elizabeth Elliot. I also love any book by Jon Krakaur.

Q: What excites you about the Lightbearers vision?
A: The first thing that peeked my interest about Lightbearers was the apartment model. I was very intrigued about how the ministry ran and how it all worked with the apartments. I was also just very impressed with the emphasis that is put on equipping the students. I think a lot of ministries today fail to equip students in college, but rather just serve as an encouragement and I think that Lightbearers does a great job of equipping students so that when they graduate they are able to stand firm in what they believe and they can disciple and minister to others.

Q: Other than Jesus, what Bible character would you want to have lunch with?
A: I would say either Noah or John the Baptist. I love studying both of those guys. They both were faced with intense opposition, but held fast to what God called them to do.

Q: Other than Bible characters, what three people, living or dead, would you want to have lunch with?
A: I am going to stay away from people I know and go with people I do not know. I would say Jim Elliot who is one of my heroes, Michael Scott because he is hilarious, and my grandmother because I never got to know her and she raised my Mamma so well!

Q: What does a fun, relaxing day look like for you?
A: Eating breakfast tacos (from Fuego in College Station. Fayetteville is seriously missing out), Going to the park and laying in my hammock or maybe going to an empty amusement park and riding all the rides with no lines. Maybe I would like to go to the lake with my family and my dog, Nala. Or depending on the day, I would like to go hiking with my dog and jump into the river. Then I would like to come home and watch a movie or cook dinner. So if all that could be packed in a day that would be cool. Or go to the Grand Canyon.
